Local Challenges

The solar farm is far from towns with no 4G network coverage across the whole site. The tropical savanna features intense high-temperature sunshine during daytime. Local field operators only have basic English skills. The project generates massive point data, so the unit price must be controlled for bulk procurement. Local logistics are slow, leading to long equipment repair cycles.

Project Overview

This 6000-mu mountain solar power station requires field GIS data entry for site boundary topography, surface vegetation, ditches and pipelines, as well as mountain terrain re-survey. There is no large-scale pile stakeout work.

Work Flow

1. The TK800 base station is installed on urban high-rise rooftops. It maintains zero coordinate drift during long-term static observation. The high-power UHF radio provides full coverage of all townships and supports independent RTK operation without relying on mobile network signals. A DJI survey drone is applied for full-area aerial mapping to generate basic urban terrain imagery rapidly.

Seven local teams carry lightweight TK200 rovers to collect topographic, pipeline and vegetation feature points by zones. Weighing only 500g, the rover brings little burden for long-distance cross-country hiking. It comes with built-in 16GB storage and no TF card expansion slot, enabling complete local data storage for each survey zone.

English voice prompts reduce training difficulty for local workers. Multiple radio protocols are compatible with legacy survey instruments of local contractors, allowing new and old devices to perform GIS data collection simultaneously.

The equipment supports a wide operating temperature range of -30℃ ~ +65℃ and maintains stable operation under intense heat. IP68 dustproof and waterproof rating protects the unit from savanna dust. The low failure rate reduces logistics costs for cross-border maintenance.

The GIS field data collection period of the whole site is shortened by 68%. The annual equipment repair rate is less than 1.5%, avoiding frequent cross-border shipment of maintenance spare parts.
