Local Challenges

Malaysia suffers from insufficient CORS coverage in suburban and rural areas, with unstable 4G network signals in remote townships. The tropical rainforest climate features year-round high temperature, high humidity and frequent rainfall, which easily causes dew and moisture damage to surveying equipment. Old urban blocks and rural villages are densely built with buildings and dense rainforest vegetation, resulting in severe GNSS satellite signal occlusion. Official cadastral surveys require statutory precision standards, while local field workers operate with mixed Malay, English and Chinese languages.

Project Overview

This project covers full-area housing right confirmation and GIS data collection for urban stormwater, sewage and power underground pipelines across a Malaysian prefecture-level city, covering 19 villages and towns. The old town features narrow alleys, dense buildings and heavy vegetation coverage, with continuous humid and rainy weather during the monsoon season.

Survey Workflow

1. The TK800 base station is installed on urban high-rise rooftops. It maintains zero coordinate drift during long-term static observation. The high-power UHF radio provides full coverage of all townships and supports independent RTK operation without relying on mobile network signals. A DJI survey drone is applied for full-area aerial mapping to generate basic urban terrain imagery rapidly.

2. Four field survey teams equipped with TK600 rovers conduct on-site collection of building boundary points and acquire coordinate data of underground pipeline manholes and valves along urban roads. The 60° tilt measurement function adapts to narrow alleys and blocked working spaces. Multi-language voice broadcast enables local operators with zero professional experience to master the device quickly.

3. The 1408 full-channel receiver effectively resists signal occlusion from buildings and dense vegetation, achieving a fixed solution reliability of over 99.9% and greatly reducing repeated surveys and rework. Multiple radio protocols are compatible with existing survey equipment of local land departments, realizing unified standard GIS pipeline data collection.

The TK600 supports TF card expansion to store massive cadastral and pipeline point data. Standard coordinate files can be exported offline and directly imported into municipal real estate and underground pipeline database systems.
